Its Time To Turn On The First Bitcoin Mining Rig!

Image
I was just about to press the dedicated power button on the motherboard and there is a damn cable missing, so as I have nothing else to post for this blog entry, it will cover the 18th and 19th of January... UPDATE: The cable has arrived and it is now the next day time to install it. Right the cable is in here we go... UPDATE: Its ON omfg!  Its turned on and gone into the motherboard BIOS page, the fact I have a picture on this thing is already getting me excited, now too see if I can install windows. Currently installing windows... OK, windows is installed, Nicehash miner is installed and the first of the cards is benchmarked. Second card benched now but it seems the third is having a problem.. FOUND the problem, the power cable was loose in the card hahaha, it is now also mining JOB DONE, I am now making $8.36 a day in BTC mining ETH! These three cards are already pulling in $3057 ish per year before electric costs, I HAVE TO TAKE THIS FURTHER!

Arrival of First Graphics Cards For Mining

Image
The day has finally arrived and what an extrodinary abount of money has been spent! Three 5600XT's made by ASUS have arrived by mail this morning and I am now literally strapping graphics cards to a block of wood in my kitchen. The CPU has also been installed and the ram has been slotted in, its a Intel Celeron processor and 4GB DDR4 ram, I seriously hope thats enough RAM to get it working. UPDATE: The cards are now mounted and it will soon be time to turn the first rig on, im seriously expecting this to  blow up, im also having to re-install the fans as those cards were much larger than expected. Slightly concerned as to how much this is going to cost in electricity, I do not have a smart meter and currently run of a key meter, I think trips to the post office are going to be extensive. Another job crossed of todays list is the cable managment, which has been secured with loverly black cable ties. TOMORROW THIS GETS TURNED ON!

Bitcoin Motherboard Has Arrived!!!

Image
The Bitcoin motherboard has arrived and it is finally installed after lots of measuring and having to add two extra pieces of wood, the first power supply is also connected. One of the great things about this board, the MH70-Pro, is that it can be attatched to multiple power supplys that power even more cards and can hold up to 13 cards in total. I have ordered three graphics cards, and I am carefully looking to see how I connect these with the three riser which I had lying around from a previous build attempt that I never finished a couple of years ago. These wires are already starting to build and I think an investment into some cable ties is the next thing on the list.... more to follow once the cards arrive, getting excited!

Outer Shell Constructed and Bitcoin Power Supplys Installed

Image
Well, the first outer shell of the rig has been built, its freezing cold in here and I literally cant wait to get these things going as I hope they will heat the house for the rest of the winter haha I have had an 850w power supply arrive this morning that was purchased of Amazon and I have dug out a 450w power supply from a box I had lying around and mounted them onto the rig. I am starting to wish that I had purchased a drill as screwing all this in by hand has been an nightmare on my skin! I have used some plastic hooks with screws to keep the power supply's in place, lets how these things don't move around. Here is a picture of what I have so far, I have a good feeling about this lol... UPDATE: Its later in the afternoon and I have now added four of the fans one of which I already had lying around although I still have no idea how I am going to connect these to a motherboard.

Could This Be The Craziest Thing I Have Ever Done

Image
A mad idea has been born, straight out of the coronavirus pandemic a new source of income is required to replace something that may never return. Being a DJ, I miss the old days of being able to go out on a night and play to hundreds of people, see people, speak to people and watch as people enjoy your music. I have decided to start out on a new venture, one that could either make me rich or have me looking for work in some god awful fish market. A few years back I started to look into the world of Bitcoin and although to expensive to invest in at the time, things may have changed. I recently aquired a grant, paid by the British Government that covers part of my DJ earnings for the last few months of not being able to work and I actually got the second part of this grant yesterday. At the time of writing, the Bitcoin price has just crossed £25,000 and there does not seem to be any signs of it stopping. The decision has been made to construct my first "Bitcoin Mining Rig" as I...
